Improving the quality of life for the individuals with special needs is a strategic goal and a priority of the Abu Dhabi Government. Zayed Higher Organization has adopted this vision and placed it at the core of its own strategic plan to be translated into actions. The Special Needs Sector of Zayed Higher Organization works very seriously to offer coordinated multi-agency services for individuals with special needs, which aim to promote full independence in the community, and support them to achieve their hopes and goals through inclusion within the community structure.
The Special Needs Sector is responsible for approximately eight centers for care and rehabilitation " complex needs schools); a Printing Press for the Visual Impaired which is the only one in the UAE, two Sports Clubs in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, Vocational workshops and a centre for Agricultural qualifications.
All the care and Rehabilitation Centers " Complex needs schools" have a solid foundation of partnerships with local, regional and international communities, according to the Sector’s distinguished available services in the field of Special Education. The Sector has its own strategic partners such as, ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Educational Council, Family Development Foundation, The Abu Dhabi Health Authority, SNICA, Boston University and ADMAF. The Sector organizes its annual central activities, which include ACCESS Abu Dhabi International Conference, The International Forum for Autism, The National Project for Inclusion and the Continuous Professional Development Program “Kafa’ah every year.
